FREMONT, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Dr. Tae Yun Kim, CEO, Lighthouse Worldwide Solutions, has received a coveted Gold Stevie® Award for Women in Business for the “Best New Product of the Year—Business Products” category, for the development of the company’s “Active Count 100H Microbiological Sampler.”
Dr. Tae Yun Kim also received a Silver “Lifetime Achievement” Stevie Award.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business are the world’s top honors for female entrepreneurs, executives, employees and the organizations they run. All individuals and organizations worldwide are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small. The 2017 awards received entries from 25 nations and territories.
More than 1,500 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 90 categories.
Nicknamed the “Stevies” for the Greek word for “crowned,” the awards were presented to winners Friday night during a dinner event attended by 500+ people at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
Born a curse in her village because she was a girl, today, Dr. Tae Yun Kim is called the “Hope of Korea.”
Surviving the Korean War in 1950, she eventually became one of the highest ranked martial artists in the world and coached the first U.S. women’s Taekwondo team at the 1978 Pre-World Games in Seoul, Korea.
Though from birth, facing prejudice as a woman, she went on to be named “Woman of the Year” in California. She also won the Susan B. Anthony Award and has now won Gold and Silver Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
She moved from not speaking English upon arriving in America, to becoming an international motivational speaker and author.
She rose from cleaning hotel rooms and pumping gas to becoming the Chairman and CEO of a highly successful global technology company in Silicon Valley.
