Upon my arrival to receive the recognition as a Top 10 Hero of Korean Immigration, I was greeted by the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team in a powerful moment filled with pride and purpose. Being honored during the 120th anniversary of Korean immigration to the United States is an achievement I hold close to my heart. But in that moment, my focus was entirely on these young warriors before me—this was an opportunity to inspire and uplift the young warriors who represent the next generation, encouraging them to reach their own heights of greatness.
Embracing Struggles as Strength
Looking into the eyes of these young martial artists, I saw resilience, fire, and an unstoppable drive. I wanted them to understand that the path to success is never easy—but that’s where the real power lies. “Rejoice in the Lessons of Pain and Hurt,” I told them, because challenges aren’t roadblocks; they’re opportunities. Pain teaches resilience. Hurt builds courage. Each obstacle is shaping them into the champions they’re meant to be.
He Can Do, She Can Do, Why Not Me!
This is my personal motto for having courage. I shared this affirmation with them, hoping it would ignite a fire in their hearts. “He Can Do, She Can Do, Why Not Me!” I wanted them to understand that they hold the power to face any obstacle and rise above it. My message to them was clear: they are unstoppable. If they believe in themselves and have the courage to keep going, there is no height they cannot reach.
Celebrate Every Breath, Own Every Choice
I encouraged them to celebrate every breath, because life is a precious gift. Every moment is a chance to grow and make choices that define who we are. Choose greatness. Choose purpose. Choose to be more than you ever thought possible.
The Future is in Their Hands
These young warriors are more than just the next generation—they are our future, our legacy. In them, I see heroes who will inspire, uplift, and lead. As I left that day, my heart was full, knowing that they have everything they need to Break Through to Awesome. They have the strength, the courage, and the spirit to make a lasting difference, and I am honored to be part of their journey.
As I stood with the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team, they presented me with an award as part of their heartfelt greeting. I am truly honored to receive this award from such dedicated young warriors. Their gesture touched me deeply, resonating with the very core of my being. To be recognized by this remarkable team fills me with immense gratitude and conviction. This award is a testament to the power of courage, unity, and shared purpose—and I am honored to carry this moment forward, inspired by the spirit of these young leaders who are the future of our legacy.
