Have you ever thought of the concepts of being empty and being full?

I have.

Trash cans are meant to be empty.

Bank accounts are meant to be full.

The washing machine and dryer are meant to be empty.

The salt shaker is meant to be full.

My martial arts teacher, Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim, teaches that it is good to have an empty cup.

What does that mean?

If you have a full cup of water, no matter how much more you try to put in, it won't go into the cup. It will overflow.

If your mind is already filled with preconceived ideas about how everything in the world works, then there is no room for learning anything new.

Have an open mind. Don't be attached to old thinking, old thoughts.

Dr. Kim teaches that when new ideas come your way, don't scoff at them immediately or say "impossible".  Be open to new ideas, to new ways of doing things. Things always change over time.
