Here is an important point to help you understand your emotions. Emotions don’t come out of nowhere; they follow your thoughts. The positive and negative emotions you feel are a result of an idea your have first. If you are feeling the emotion of anger, the thought creating the emotion may be something like, I am thwarted; I am being deceived; I don’t get my way. The feeling of affection may be created by, I value this person’s honesty; I desire to express my appreciation.
Sometimes, however, your emotions do appear to come out of nowhere, and sometimes they seem to conflict with what you’re thinking. You may say, “I’m thinking as positively as I can about this situation, but I’m still depressed. What’s wrong? If thought creates emotion, how is it possible to have emotions that conflict with our thinking? The answer is, you my have formed invisible thoughts that are now creating emotions.
Are you paying attention to your inner dialog?
Are you paying attention to you environment and surroundings?
Are there people around that are influencing you in a negative way?
