Be Willing to Turn Negatives into Positives

Here is an excerpt from my book, The Silent Master: Awakening the Power Within:

2. Be Willing to Turn Negatives into Positives.

Many of us come from backgrounds where there was trauma or abuse. For example, one woman talked to me about being Raped Five Years Ago. The incident was still causing much fear and depression, and she couldn’t get over it. This was a big obstacle in her life because it was keeping her from knowing and experiencing any happiness. I told her that the rapist had probably long ago forgotten about the incident, but she was continuing to be raped over and over for five long years! Is that fair? Yet only she could do something about this injustice by disciplining her own mind.

Others talk to me about growing up in foster homes or living with an abusive alcoholic parent. But in all these examples, the negative situations or the traumas are over and gone! I am sorry that they happened, and so are you. And so is anyone who knows it was wrong. But now is the time to use these situations as fertilizer to create new situations and new growth! Even though you didn’t have the power and control to stop the situation at the time it was happening, you have the power and control now to do something about it, to build something constructive on top of that event.

Listen in the Present Moment

Here is an excerpt from my book, The Silent Master: Awakening the Power Within:

“You do this by listening in the present moment only to your own inclinations. Your Silent Master consciousness is constantly talking to you by giving you thoughts and inclinations that are accompanied by a feeling of rightness. We can call this “intuition.” Intuition is not a mysterious, esoteric thing, but a normal, natural way of hearing the right direction voiced by your Silent Master consciousness. Again, however, you cannot hear properly if your consciousness is colored by emotions and thoughts surrounding the non-existent past and future.

So, whatever you wish to “become,” know that you have the potential to make it happen right now. Holding the concept firmly in mind through concentration and visualization (as we discussed previously), you help to bring it about.”

Are You Where You Want To Be?

Here is an excerpt from my book, The Silent Master: Awakening the Power Within:

Let’s talk about your re-identification in five different areas.

1. Develop a stance of being the Silent Master consciousness, not becoming it.

There is an important distinction between being and becoming. Remember, I said only the present moment, and not the future exists in reality; therefore, the present moment is the only creative place for you to act. If you take a stance of becoming, you are placing your growth in the future, which is a time that never comes. If you take the chance of being, place the truth of your being as here, right now in the present. You are now all that you ever can be.

All your strength, purity, will, potential, ability, is available now for your discovery and use.

As you stay in the now moment, refusing to allow emotions based on the future or past to color your consciousness, you’ll know and sense every moment what is good, real, and right. These perceptions will cause you to take right action, and to be in the right place at the right time to bring about your optimum good.

You do not have to intellectually know what to do every moment, because the truth of your being already is. Since your Silent Master consciousness knows the best course for you to take, when you act, you’re not creating something out of nothing. Creating means to allow what already is in your consciousness to be.  My job is not to tell you which ideas to bring forth. My role is to tell you that your truth already is within you, and that you are responsible for bringing it forth.

You and the Life Force are One

Here is an excerpt from my book, The Silent Master: Awakening the Power Within:

Identify With Your Silent Master Consciousness

The Silent Master Image at the start of this chapter says, “Your Silent Master Consciousness was born out of the infinite Life Force…Because you are this Consciousness, whatever qualities the Life Force possesses, you possess also.”

You and the Life Force are one. In order to express your power, you must identify with it. The purity, power, creativity, goodness, and wholeness of your Silent Master is within you now. So let’s look at ways to strengthen your awareness of this connection.”

As you go about re identifying yourself, you will need a lot of patience and compassion to change. You have spent many years forging the personality you have, and you will now ask certain aspects of yourself to go.

Remember the old saying, “Don’t go away mad, just go away.” That’s the way you can regard old Self-Concepts as you replace them with more unlimited ways of thinking about yourself. You don’t want to spend your energy criticizing and arguing with yourself. Instead, you can act from a clear, calm center within you to quietly take charge of directing your life.

Think about the compassion you feel for a little wounded bird separated from his mother and the shelter of his nest. Give yourself the same compassion as you go about healing yourself. You, too, have been separated from the shelter of your true Self and you deserve the same love and care to return you to safety.

Take Time to Nourish Yourself

Here is an excerpt from my book, The Silent Master: Awakening the Power Within:

But imagine now that the nut refuses to be used by something else. Imagine that it chooses instead to fulfill itself, to pursue the path of Self Discovery. Instead of being food, it gives itself food. It gives itself soil, and water, and sun, and time and what happens? That limited confining shell cracks and a tree grows. It develops into a growing thriving life form with far more potential than it had as a simple nut.

Nourish Yourself

I am encouraging you to do the same: Give yourself nourishment so that you may grow into a life form expressing far more of your potential. If you are not where you want to be, stop identifying yourself with the limited personality you have, and re identify yourself with your unlimited Silent Master consciousness.

Since you have spent a lot of time acquiring many elements in your life, part of the life examination process is to examine what to keep and what to eliminate. Many material objects in your life are literally symbols of an undesirable past, or reminders of a situation you’re trying to overcome.

Let Go of the Past

One thing you can do to start overcoming the past is to eliminate the objects of the past from your environment. For instance, if you desire a life without drugs, is it wise to keep the objects involved in drug use in your home? If you are overcoming a problem with alcohol, should you keep liquors in your home? Are you keeping certain photographs, clothes, and pieces of furniture that are constant reminders of an undesirable relationship you’re trying to dissolve? Keeping objects of the past in your present environment encourages you to keep identifying with the “you” of the past. This stands in the way of redefining yourself for a new life.

Wisdom Is Supreme

Here is an excerpt from my book, The Silent Master: Awakening the Power Within:

Wisdom

You will continue to acquire, but only what you truly desire from within the knowing of your Silent Master consciousness. I like the biblical saying in Proverbs: “Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” When you find your true self, you can acquire anything that is good and right because it is already within you. Without the guidance of your true self, you will not acquire your highest and truest good. Searching for your true self is the way to create your optimum life path, because your true self is the seed of all you can become.
Acorn
Here is a simple image to help you see what I mean. Imagine an Acorn as the symbol of your life. In its simple form of a being just a nut, it has value (just as you, in your roles right now, have value). But the value a simple nut has is not necessarily self fulfilling. A nut has value as a food source for something else. It can be consumed. When that happens, its energy its Life Force is given over to something else, converted into energy that feeds another.

Life Is What You Create

Here is an excerpt from my book, The Silent Master: Awakening the Power Within:

The Need to Acquire

he who dies with the most toys

The second reason why you may have lost yourself is that most of us are driven to acquire. We want material possessions.

There is nothing wrong with acquisition. Certainly we need to acquire a source of income to purchase necessities like clothing, food, and housing – what you might call the fundamentals of earthly life. So quite naturally, you formed a personality that could handle this need.

This personality is who you think you need to be in order to earn your way. Unfortunately, the formation of this personality did not necessarily and easily proceed from your inner truth. In most cases the formation of this personality proceeded from other people’s opinions of you, other people’s pressures and expectations, and many other social and psychological forces quite unrelated to your inner truth. But you quickly learned you had to acquire in order to live. You had to do what you had to do, you thought.

But life is not what you have to do. Life, as I’m teaching you now, is what you create. If you haven’t created what you truly are, what you truly want, then now, right here in this now moment, is your chance to do so. This means you will re identify yourself. Instead of continuing along the path of your wrong identification with a limited and unreal personality, you will identify yourself as the manifestation of your unlimited and real Silent Master consciousness.

The Truth is Already In You

Here is an excerpt from my book, The Silent Master: Awakening the Power Within:

Shyness

“Let’s say you pick the characteristic of shyness. Go over your life – from two minutes ago to as far back as you can remember – and dig up those instances in which you were clearly not shy, those times you contradicted this belief entirely, and someone was left with an entirely different impression. I assure you that this experience – and probably more than one – will be there. Somewhere, sometime, I think you’ll find you acted totally differently from this belief, and someone was left thinking you were not at all shy. When you remember the incident or incidents you will call a certain sense of calm and rightness that you felt. That calmness was you being you. Even if the incident was an angry moment when you left your shyness behind – still, there was a rightness to that moment when you acted from a true principle within yourself.

My point is that, no matter what trait you pick, there are instances where you did not demonstrate it. You may have already given up some of the negative traits that you were told you had, but you may still carry around the vague feeling of being “bad.”
truth-9
Therefore, don’t let your personality, as it is now define you. Realize you have been formed by others’ opinions and expectations as much as or more so than your own inner knowing. Listen to your own inner voice and follow your own direction. The only truth is already in you, talking to you, being you. Let it come forth.”

Re-Identify Yourself (continued)

Here is an excerpt from my book, The Silent Master: Awakening the Power Within:

In short, very few of us emerge unharmed from the “growing up” process. Even with the best intentions, parents or significant others simply don’t know your inner truth the way you do. No one can know your personal truth the way you do. Yet, everything in the environment of your formative years encourages you to silence your inner voice in order to please the persons you’re dependent on.

If you were told – taught – that you are lazy, stupid, poor in math, beautiful, temperamental, athletic, friendly, shy, then you probably still are. These significant others don’t tell you that their opinions might be faulty. Quite the contrary, in order to maintain their status as authority figures, they teach you that their word is law, and that only bad or rebellious children contradict them.

I invite you to a challenge. I am so confident that your true abilities far outweigh the Self-Concepts that you have been taught, that I am inviting you to try a simple experiment. Please take one of the concepts you accepted from others as being “you.” I realize this, in itself, is a challenge, because learned some Self-Concepts you have may be so ingrained that it wouldn’t occur to you that you “accepted” them. You think of them as being “just the way you are.” So try to be very honest as you do this.

Re-Identify Yourself

Here is an excerpt from my book, The Silent Master: Awakening the Power Within:

Re-identify Yourself

Whatever your life is right now, it is a result of how you have defined yourself, or how you have identified yourself. The personality you have, the way that you have identified yourself, is due primarily to two things: 1) the way you have allowed yourself to imitate someone else or become a copy of others’ expectations (instead of being your original Self); and 2) the way you have expressed the need to acquire.

Other’s Expectations

Let’s talk about the first point – how you may have let go of your real Self.

There is only one of you here. You are one of a kind an original. How important it is, then, to be your original “self, not a copy of someone else or a fulfillment of someone else’s expectations.

The choices you have made about your personality traits and your career stemmed largely from the Self-Concepts you developed in your family, or wherever you grew up. We did not grow up alone. There were always significant people around us in the early stages of our lives teaching us who we are. How did they do that? By being our mirror. They told us things like these: “I like you when …” “You’re bad when you…” “You’re too loud.” “You’re just like your sister.” “Boys don’t do that.” “Good girls always…” When you are a small child, your inner voice is powerfully overshadowed by the voice of the authority figures who literally determine whether you live or die. You quickly conform to their perception of you. If you reject their perceptions, then you are labeled “rebellious,” which can be just as bad as accepting their other erroneous perceptions of you.
