It probably is not readily apparent to this person that his failure may have formed as a result of an emotional pattern such as a fear of success. His business may have prospered initially because of his good desire and intent to form a successful business; in fact, his good intent may have been the very thing that hid his fear from his awareness. But because he is afraid of success, he unconsciously surrounds himself with people who will help to create a picture of failure – after all, he’s the one that selected the vendors and hired the inadequate employees. His fear is carefully hidden, however, like most fears, and it doesn’t occur to him to look within for the source of the trouble. He also may not be educated to see the connection between our emotional patterns and the actions we take.
